The Big One

The Big One

Generally Speaking

Maybe you thought I was dead, maybe you thought I’d disappeared into the wilderness never to return. Maybe both! My recent total and unannounced departure from social media (a massive boon for my focus and just general life satisfaction that I recommend everyone give to themselves) could’ve indicated that. Alas I’m sorry to disappoint. I’ve just been incredibly busy and caught up in a perfect storm of life events.

I took a lot of time for me. Not that I had a choice. Starting a new job and moving states and jump-starting my life again pretty much from square one will do that. But now at the end of that jump-start (i.e. the present) I’ve landed in a position that I’ve never been in: healthy and happy, at peace in solitude and intentional with my time.

My organs are back online, my brain is running like a well-oiled machine. You might say this is my Gandalf the White moment.

New Pages

I might’ve mentioned this in a much earlier post. As my competency continues to grow with 3D modeling and programming, I’ll be adding a couple new pages to the site. One of course will be a portfolio of any artwork/assets I produce. The second will be a portal for any games I develop. I’ve got a couple of these nearing completion now after being broadened big time in scope. They’re (at present) fully text-based–think the “choose your own adventure” genre–but I’ve got some 3D assets completed already for a migration into something more substantial later.

Ironically, this was my first love before I ended up detouring hard into writing fiction. So the fact that I’ve been able to shift back into this space with relative ease is nothing short of elating. I even upgraded my machine for the first time in 10 years to do so. The improved performance so far is mind-blowing.

Fiction

I’ve been hard at work on the sequels to There Is Life in the Tree and Death in the Well, which as you might’ve noticed in the post image now has an all-new interior design! Books two and three are far enough along that I’ve even got a few working titles ready, and the second recently moved into rough draft territory. I’m hoping to release it some time this year.

Aside from these, another couple novels and a short story collection are in the pipeline. The latter is certainly in rough draft form and is another release I’m hoping to get out the door soon. Last but not least, several straight-up standalone short stories (ah, alliteration, my old friend) are sitting in the editing queue. I plan to circulate these with the usual magazines as soon as possible.

If it isn’t obvious, I’m desperately trying to get a proper workflow in order!

Blog

Posts here have been seriously lacking for a while. I’m going to blame the rollercoaster I’ve been on for the past couple years and just losing track amid all the other work I’ve been doing. That’s going to change, however, or at least I’ll be making my best attempt. The intention is monthly posts, as opposed to the weekly and then bi-weekly schedule I tried to keep up with before. This ought to be easy enough and certainly easy enough in the short term: Contrary to activity here, I’ve got more than a few posts waiting for final edits.

Summary

And that’s it, folks! This is looking like a great year already. If my organs continue to hold out, I’ll be very excited to share the rest of it with you.
