This is a change long overdue.
If you’ve managed to find your way here from the old spot, you’ll notice a few things: website migrated to a new domain and new platform, brand new e-commerce shop, plugins galore and a much needed upgrade to the site’s appearance and functionality.
Why the big leap? Short story time.
Way back in 2009, I started a blog when blogs were first getting started that was soon racking up hundreds of unique visitors a month. Not bad for a new kid on the block who just graduated high school. But life and college intervened, and I had to shut it down.
Fast forward to round two circa 2017, I was dismayed at how alien and clunky WordPress had become. How difficult it was to get readers outside WordPress’s built-in user platform. Everything required a plugin, for which the absurdly expensive business plan was required, and gone were the days of frontloading keywords to tick up your search engine presence.
It took four years for me to remember that WordPress.com and WordPress.org were two entirely different platforms. Which did my successful (albeit aborted) blog use? WordPress.org, of course.
So now here we are. Hopefully I can return to some semblance of a public presence. But even if I don’t quite yet, god damn is it nice to have the old functionality back.
All of that said, enjoy the fruits of my labor. Maybe pick up a book or two.
Cheers.
